Lowe's Toolbox for Education

Knob Noster, MO – The Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation has awarded a $5,000 Lowe’s Toolbox for Education® grant to Knob Noster Elementary in Knob Noster, MO for researching a living organism and creating a 3D image of their topic. Knob Noster Elementary is one of 608 schools across the United States to be awarded a Lowe’s Toolbox for Education grant during its fall 2018 grants cycle for improvement projects.

Across the K-4 science curriculum, all grade levels have a “living thing” standard that they must cover.  During science in the regular classroom, students will be doing research over their given standard for a living organism.  The students will be integrating science, technology, engineering, art and math into this project. After completing their research, students will use the new 3D printers purchased through the Lowe’s Toolbox for Education Grant to design and then create a model of their living organism. The project is scheduled to be completed by Spring 2019.

“Knob Noster Elementary is extremely excited and proud be awarded this grant!  Hands-on learning is such an important part of our curriculum at KNE and 3D printing is an amazing opportunity for our school and community.  This will advance and engage our student’s knowledge and deepen their understanding. I can’t wait to see all the unique ideas and awesome things students design with our new 3D Printers!”  --Knob Noster Elementary Principal, Mrs. Kristi Mellon
